Helping Educators Rediscover Their Why

What Educators are saying

“Thank you for the "why" we do this reminders!! Thank you for sharing your story.  I smile often at all students and I hope my smile helps someone, even if I don't know it.”

“IT was much appreciated and teachers today need to hear this . Not that we teach to be appreciated or recognized....but knowing that the little things can make such a difference was very encouraging.”

“It is so valuable to hear first person perspective in these talks. Really helps you to see people as whole, makes it so much more real than reading it or watching a pre made film. Any one of us could have been you, any kid in this school could be you right now. Made me really think. Thank you.”

“It is amazing the impact a teacher can have on a student. It is good to be reminded how valuable we are to students and how valuable our students are to us.”

“Thank you for sharing your story. We don't often hear about the positive impact teachers have and it means a lot to know that we are impacting kids who need it.”

“Wonderful and touching sharing of your life and how we as educators can make a difference even when we think may not be.”

Denise Bard is a speaker and the author of 30 Second Moments and the Women Who Raised Me. Her story is living proof that the smallest, often unnoticed interactions can change the course of a life.

As a teenager growing up in a cycle of hardship and instability, Denise found hope not in the lessons of a classroom, but in the simple kindness of her teachers, a counselor, and a coach. A smile, a word of encouragement, a moment of listening — these 30-second moments gave her the courage to believe she was worthy of more and ultimately rewrite her story.

Today, Denise shares that story with schools and organizations to remind educators of their extraordinary influence beyond academics. Through her keynote, she helps staff reconnect with their why, reignite their passion for teaching, and see themselves as the heroes they already are in the lives of their students. Decision-makers who bring Denise in can expect a keynote that uplifts, inspires, and leaves educators feeling valued, celebrated, and reminded of their why.

"I believe it only takes one moment to change a life. I know — because those moments changed mine."

“The cycle said I wouldn’t make it. My story says otherwise.”

By every statistic, I wasn’t supposed to be here. I was supposed to be stuck in the cycle I was born into. I believed the voices that told me I would never be more. I gave up on dreaming. So what helped me to change my story …................It changed because of my Teachers!

I wasn’t supposed to be the woman I am today. The cycle I was born into told me I would never be more. But everything changed because of something simple: a 30-second moment from my teachers, my counselors and a coach. A moment they didn’t even realize happened, yet it altered the trajectory of my life. Every educator and staff member has a hero inside them that they don't know exists.

My keynote is a powerful reminder of the unseen influence educators have in the lives of their students. Drawing from my own story of growing up facing trauma, I share how small, unnoticed acts of kindness from teachers and staff — what I call “30-Second Moments” — gave me the courage to believe in more and ultimately rewrite my life story.

Through authentic storytelling and heartfelt connection, I help educators see the extraordinary value they bring outside of the subjects they teach. Educators and Staff will leave feeling celebrated, re-energized, and reconnected to their why — reminded that even the simplest moments can change a student’s life forever.

I will help your educators -

  • Boosting Morale. Educators will feel seen and recognized, leaving with renewed motivation, energy, and job satisfaction that directly benefits their students.

  • Strengthen Retention by celebrating and valuing teachers, schools create a culture where staff feel appreciated - a key driver in keeping great educators.

  • Deepen connection through my personal story, educators will see the lasting impact of simple, unnoticed 30-second moments of connection and be reminded of the invisible ways they already change lives.

  • Above all this keynote is a celebration of the teaching profession - helping every educator recognize the hero within themselves.
